Fighter

This guide is actively being worked on! Builds shown have been updated and reviewed.
Stat Distribution
Fighter's main stat is STR and secondary is DEX.
- Armor require 10 less DEX than the armor level.
- Most weapons require the same DEX as the weapon level.
- Put just enough points into DEX to equip your armor and weapon. Everything else into STR.
- 4 STR and 1 DEX per level. Adjust distribution depending on your gear.
Weapon Choice
Sword vs Axe
- Consistent damage (x2.5 on both Swing and Stab) makes hit count thresholds easier to reach
- Mastery gives up to +20 Accuracy. Makes hitting accuracy requirements at higher levels not as gear dependent.
- Higher average multiplier (x2.6)
- Bleed: 25% chance to deal 100% total damage over 3 seconds
- Craftable
- Slightly lower average multiplier (x2.5)
- Not craftable, Lv35+ Swords are harder to get
- Swing Stab Weapon Mult can make hit count thresholds less consistent
- Bleed doesn’t help when you’re one or two shotting
If you're mostly fighting mobs you can 1 to 2 shot, I recommend using a 2h Sword. The damage consistency provided by having the same Weapon Mult for Swing / Stab makes training a lot smoother. When it starts taking over 3 hits to kill something, the bleed procs from Axe Mastery and the higher average Weapon Mult starts to outweigh 2h Sword's damage consistency.
If you're having any sort of accuracy issues, go with Swords. The 20 accuracy from Sword Mastery makes gearing for accuracy not nearly as strict when fighting end game mobs like Taurospear. You also have the added benefit of shifting some points away from Precise Strikes in favor of Improved HP Recovery due to the extra accuracy.
If you're bossing and have no accuracy issues, go with Axes. The longer the fight goes on for, the more impactful Axe Mastery Bleed and higher average Weapon Mult becomes.
1h vs 2h
1h weapons not ideal to use. With the lower Weapon Mult on 1h weapons, you take just as much damage as using 2h because it most likely takes more hits to defeat the same enemy. However, I can see 1h Weapons being good for training when you're really far into late game and the damage from 2h Weapon Mult doesn't matter when reaching hit count thresholds.
Fighter Skills

Sword Mastery
PassivePassive that increases weapon mastery and accuracy.
Like all other weapon mastery skills, you want to max this out first. When maxed, it brings your mastery from 7% to 77%, which contributes directly to your average damage. It also adds up to +20 Accuracy making gearing for accuracy easier.

Axe Mastery
PassivePassive that increases weapon mastery and grants a chance to inflict bleed.
Like all other weapon mastery skills, you want to max this out first. When maxed, it brings your mastery from 7% to 77%, which contributes directly to your average damage.
Provides a bleed chance on attack. For grinding where you are one or two shotting, the bleed will not help. Rush and Final Attack trigger bleed.
Weapon Mastery
Bleed Damage Formula
BleedPercent is 40 at Axe Mastery level 1, rising to 100 at level 20. Bleed ignores monster defense, and its level penalty is always the linear one (Level Diff × 0.05 + 1).

Final Attack: Sword
Active3 target AoE that can only be used when procced.
25% chance on hit to receive a buff that allows you to use this skill once. Not really worth using early in 2nd job as you’re mainly focused on mobs that you can 1-2 hit. Becomes useful after lv50 when you’re regularly training on mobs that take 3+ hits to kill.

Rage
BuffParty Buff that grants attack power.
This skill has the potential to enable your physical dps party members to reach hit count thresholds more consistently. Communicate with your party members if they actually need rage as the defense penalty from this skill can add up to more potion usage during long grinds. Try to avoid using this on your party’s mages.
Rage stacks with attack power consumables as well (i.e. Warrior Potion). Lv1 Rage adds 10 attack power, so is worth taking early on.

| Max Rush to lower MP costs. You can slightly optimize the skill build by putting just enough points into Rage to reach a certain hit count breakpoint and then maxing Rush. Generally don’t recommend people do this unless you’re really sure about where you’re going to train and who you’re training with. Another optimization you can make is getting Rush to level 10 for the extra range then maxing Final Attack. This one is entirely up to you. |

| Can’t use 2nd job SP for first job so we just put it into Axe Mastery. |
Main benefit of this build is that you get to use aluminum bat from 30-40 and still reach guaranteed 1 shot breakpoints due to equal swing/stab weapon modifiers. SP reset at lv40 when you need to upgrade to a lv40 weapon for forgotten hollow. Only recommended if you’re already building DEX warrior in 1st job and willing to spend NX for SP reset at 40.

| MP intensive at Lv 1. Overuse can make training meso negative so use sparingly if you don’t have the means to sustain the cost. |

Stats Indepth
STR Scaling
STR impact to your damage range can be calculated as
Mastery comes from Sword Mastery or Axe Mastery (see the Weapon Mastery formula in the skills above). It’s 0.07 with no points in it.
STR is affected by Weapon Multiplier and Weapon Mastery, so every point of mastery raises your damage floor and tightens your damage range.
Weapon Multiplier
| Weapon | Swing | Stab | Avg |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1H Sword | x1.8 (60%) | x1.8 (40%) | x1.8 |
| 2H Sword | x2.5 (60%) | x2.5 (40%) | x2.5 |
| 1H Axe | x2.4 (60%) | x1.2 (40%) | x1.92 |
| 2H Axe | x3.0 (60%) | x2.0 (40%) | x2.6 |
DEX Scaling
DEX impact to damage can be calculated as
DEX isn’t affected by Weapon Multiplier or Weapon Mastery, so its damage range stays the same as you level mastery. Once mastery is leveled, STR overtakes DEX at both ends of the range.
Accuracy
Accuracy decides whether your attacks hit. It's one stat used for both physical and magic attacks.
Accuracy from your stats can be calculated as
Every stat here is your total, including equipment and buffs
Each attack compares your Accuracy against the monster's Avoid. Monsters that are a higher level than you need a lot more Accuracy to hit reliably, while being a higher level than the monster gives no extra bonus. Level is part of the formula too, so your Accuracy goes up a little every level even without adding stats.
Weapon Mastery
Weapon Mastery can be calculated as
Mastery Level is the “mastery level” shown in the skill levels of Sword Mastery or Axe Mastery, from 1 to 10. With no points in a mastery skill, Mastery is 0.07.
Mastery only affects the MIN side of the STR formula (STR × Weapon Mult × Mastery). It goes from 7% with no mastery skill, to 14% at Mastery Level 1, up to 77% at Mastery Level 10, so leveling your weapon mastery skill raises your damage floor and tightens your damage range.
FAQ
Can I go hybrid build if I don’t want to SP reset in 3rd Job?
Unlike Spearman and Page, Fighter’s FA is useful for grinding and therefore should probably not be skipped. That being said, you can max both sword and axe mastery, put 1 pt into sword and axe booster, then keep FA at lower levels for each weapon if you are keen on a hybrid build. You will be sacrificing FA DPS for the convenience of speccing into both weapon types.
Generally, the recommendation is to keep one weapon type and respec if needed since SP resets should be tradable/giftable so F2P players can just buy them with mesos.
Can I choose to go Sword or Axe, if I like them better?
At present, only Axes are craftable, so your weapon choice might be based on availability of your best in slot weapon. If both are available, Sword provides very consistent damage and therefore is preferred for grinding. Late second job, Axes could be preferable if you take several hits to kill a mob and make use of the bleed mechanic.
